DVLA- Vehicle description:
Vehicle Checks Include:
Is the vehicle stolen, previously written off, does it identity match that recorded at the DVLA? Be careful ... one in three cars is said to have an adverse history. MOTUK.COM are now able to offer vehicle information checks. We have teamed up with CarWatch, a new rival to the two established services provided by HPI & Experian.
The service currently enables consumers to check:
|
• |
DVLA information for the vehicle (including the make, model, colour, trim level, engine size & number of keepers) |
|
• |
Recent plate transfer information from the DVLA |
|
• |
Import /export data for mainland UK |
|
• |
ABI Insurance Group |
|
• |
ABI register to ensure that the vehicle has not been an insurance write off, or subject to a total loss claim. Where this is the case, it will identify via a severity code, the level of damage sustained to the vehicle. |
|
• |
Police National Computer records to ascertain whether it has been reported lost or stolen |
|
• |
A valuation check capability will also be included shortly. |
The consumer vehicle check service is being launched with an initial introductory
price of just ![]()
The price is for a limited period only. This is significantly cheaper than even the basic reports offered by some competitors, and represents excellent value for money.
If you want to check a vehicle, enter either (or ideally both) the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and the Registration Mark (Vehicle Registration Number) above. MOTUK.COM will then initialize the search on your behalf. You will then be transferred to a terms and conditions page, after which your card payment details will be taken. Following payment, the vehicle report will be displayed and it is recommended that you print this for your records.
Carwatch were founded in 1999, and have been designing & building their databases over the last couple of years.
Over the next few months the service will be enhanced to ensure that you can also check whether there is any outstanding finance on the vehicle. Some lenders have started to submit this data to Carwatch. However, the data will not be included in a search until later in 2002. This will ensure that it is able to provide reasonable coverage on finance data prior to its launch. CarWatch already have agreements to obtain this data including mileage information, and will be negotiating further sources over the coming months.
